Patch Notes – Update 1.0.16

This update focuses on competition and progression. The best players on the server can now compete across 11 different ranking categories, experience progression after level 31 has been made noticeably smoother, and certain armors now visually evolve as you upgrade them.

Chat, the Skill Window, Classic Interface, and several other systems have also received new features and improvements.

New Features
Global Ranking Window

A new Global Ranking window can now be opened using the trophy button in the bottom-left corner of the minimap.

Players are ranked across 11 different categories:
  • Player Level
  • Playtime
  • Metin Stones Destroyed
  • Highest Metin Damage
  • Bosses Defeated
  • Monsters Defeated
  • Chests Opened
  • Quest Books Completed
  • Successful Fishing
  • Successful Item Upgrades
  • Failed Item Upgrades

Each ranking category includes:
  • Level filters: Overall / 1–45 / 46–74 / 75–99
  • Class filters
  • Medals for the Top 3 players
  • Each player's kingdom flag
  • Your own rank and score displayed separately below the ranking, even if you are outside the Top 10

Clicking a player's name directly opens a Whisper window.

Level Requirements for Certain Areas

Selected maps now have minimum level requirements, with some areas also having a maximum level requirement.
  • If your level does not meet the requirements, you will not be teleported and a message will tell you the required level.
  • When using a Teleporter or Memory Scroll, the level requirement is checked before any Yang is charged.
  • If you log out while inside an area you are no longer eligible to enter, your character will start in your empire's village the next time you log in.

Armors Now Visually Evolve as You Upgrade Them

Certain armors now have a more progressive visual appearance.

At lower upgrade levels they appear simpler, while upgrading them to +4, +5, +6 and beyond gradually unlocks additional visual elements such as shoulder pieces, decorations, and capes. At higher upgrade levels, the armor reaches its complete appearance.
  • This system applies to body armors across all six character variations, including Warrior, Sura, Ninja, and Shaman for both male and female characters.

Chat Language Filters

Country flags have been added to the top bar of the chat window opened with Enter.
  • Left-clicking a flag hides Shout and Trade messages sent in that language.
  • Clicking the flag again enables those messages.
  • Right-clicking a flag leaves only that language enabled.
  • Right-clicking it again restores all languages.
  • Your language filter preferences are saved even after closing the game.

Skill Window Improvements
Numerical Cooldown Display

Remaining cooldown time is now displayed directly in the center of a skill or item slot.
  • The remaining time is displayed in seconds.
  • The number disappears automatically when the cooldown ends.
  • This works on both the Quickslot Bar and Skill Window.
Skill Book Progress

When hovering over a skill at the Master (M) stage, its tooltip now displays how many Skill Books you have successfully read toward the next level and how many are required.

For example:

Books: 1 / 3

Required Gaya (Florin) in the Wiki

When an item upgrade requires Gaya (Florin), the Wiki now displays a Required Gaya row underneath the required materials.
  • The required amount is shown separately for each upgrade level.
  • Items that do not require Gaya continue to use the existing layout.

Mount & Dismount Using Horse Tickets

Horse tickets can now be used to mount and dismount directly.
  • If your horse is standing next to you, using the ticket will mount your horse.
  • Using the ticket while already mounted will dismount you.
  • Neither action consumes mana.
  • Ctrl+H to mount and Ctrl+B to send your horse away continue to work as before.

New Classic Interface Shortcuts
Shop Search Shortcut

Pressing J now opens or closes the Shop Search window.
  • If Shop Search is unavailable on your current map, a warning window will be displayed.
  • Ctrl+J continues to mount your horse as before.
Pause Chat

A new Pause Chat button has been added to the chat window next to Auto Shout, represented by an "S" icon.
  • While enabled, new messages stop appearing in the chat window, allowing you to read existing messages without them moving.
  • Pressing the button again resumes the chat.
  • Holding Shift while typing continues to provide the same functionality as before.

Changes
Experience Progression
  • Experience gains from level 31 onward have been increased.
  • Experience reduction still gradually applies as your level increases, but the progression curve is now considerably smoother.
  • Players between levels 31–49 receive approximately 13–21% more experience.
  • Players between levels 50–75 receive approximately 45–155% more experience.
  • Players at level 76 and above receive approximately 35–40% more experience.

Sudden progression drops around level transitions such as 49 → 50 and 70 → 71 have also been reduced.

The goal of these changes is to keep progression through the mid and higher levels rewarding without reaching an unnecessary slowdown.

Metin Stones
  • Metin Stones that spawn in unreachable locations will no longer remain stuck there indefinitely.
  • If a Metin Stone spawns inside a fenced area or another inaccessible location and remains untouched for an extended period, the game will attempt to move it to a nearby valid location.
  • If no suitable location can be found, the Metin Stone is removed and respawned elsewhere.

Previously, an inaccessible Metin Stone could remain there until the next server restart and continue blocking its spawn point.

Quests & NPCs
Celadon Porcelain Quest

The Celadon Porcelain quest now clearly displays the quantity of missing materials.

Previously, the quest explained which materials were required but did not show how many were needed.

Pressing the quest button now displays your current and required amount for each missing material.

For example:

Crystal Ore: 12 / 50
Stableman
  • The Crafting (Cube) option has been removed from the Stableman.
  • All horse-related options, including feeding, mounting, naming, and promotion, remain unchanged.

Items
Sugar – Horse Name Duration

The Sugar item used to change your horse's name now clearly states that the selected name remains active for 30 days.

This information has been added across all 16 supported languages.

Classic Interface

The Modern Interface remains unchanged.
  • The remaining information and warning windows now use the Classic frame and Classic OK button.
  • This includes Shop Search restrictions, Dragon Stone warnings, Guild warnings, Inventory warnings, and similar system messages.

Fixes
Shop Search
Enchanted Only
  • Fixed an issue where "Enchanted Only" searches could still return items without bonuses.
  • The option was not being included correctly after the new Shop Search filters were introduced.
  • When enabled, results now contain only items with at least one bonus.
  • Enchanted Only can also be used by itself without entering an item name.
Class Filter
  • Fixed the Class selection list appearing underneath the Shop Search window.
  • Previously, the list could extend outside the window and appear behind the Search/Clear buttons, making some classes impossible to select.
  • The list now opens upward and remains fully inside the window.

Skills
  • Fixed old cooldown information remaining in the Skill Window after teleporting.
  • Skill cooldowns reset during teleportation, but the Skill Window could restore outdated values afterward.
  • Cooldown indicators now clear correctly.

Stability
Metin Stone Crash
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the game to close immediately after destroying a Metin Stone.
  • A protection check triggered when the stone was destroyed could generate an error and terminate the client without warning.
  • The problematic check has been temporarily disabled, preventing Metin Stone kills from closing the game.
Guild Bank
  • Fixed a server crash related to the Guild Bank.
  • Depositing or withdrawing Yang could cause the server to crash while synchronizing the updated balance with online guild members if a recently disconnected player was still present in the member list.

Items & Upgrading
Devil's Tower Blacksmith
  • Fixed an issue where having insufficient Yang at the Devil's Tower Blacksmith could consume your free upgrade attempt.
  • Previously, an unsuccessful attempt caused by insufficient Yang could still be counted as your available upgrade.
  • The free upgrade opportunity is now consumed only when an actual upgrade attempt is performed.
Items Destroyed When Unequipped
  • Fixed an issue that allowed items designed to be destroyed when unequipped to be preserved by equipping another item over them.
  • Items such as the Thief's Glove could previously return safely to the inventory if another item was equipped directly into the same slot.
  • This replacement is no longer allowed. The equipped item must first be intentionally removed using the normal unequip process.

Marriage Ring
  • Fixed the 30-second Marriage Ring cooldown not working correctly.
  • Previously, the teleport itself cleared the cooldown state, allowing the ring to be used repeatedly without waiting.
  • The 30-second cooldown now works as intended.
  • Logging out, logging back in, or switching channels does not reset it.
  • If the teleport does not happen — for example, because your spouse is offline or located in a restricted area — the cooldown does not begin.

Character & Horse
Ranking Points
  • Fixed negative Ranking Points appearing as 0 in the Character Window.
  • Characters with negative ranks now display their actual Ranking Point value, such as -12,500.
  • Number formatting for negative values has also been corrected.
Horse Names
  • Fixed an issue where a horse could occasionally receive a number such as "71110" as its name.
  • When changing the horse's name through the NPC menu, the Sugar item's internal item ID could mistakenly be used instead of the name entered by the player.
  • Horse names are now applied correctly regardless of which method is used.
